Remember those long car rides as a kid in the 70’s and 80’s (at least that’s when I was a kid)…VERY long! Memories I have are of my sister and I lobbying for seat space, spooning (and pushing each other off to the floor), getting the semis to honk, playing the alphabet game, hearing my parents say in conversation “Wouldn’t it be great if they made soundproof glass?!”, counting electrical poles, listening to books on tape, and just enjoying the ride.
As our family gets closer to the one year mark of waiting (September 9), I find myself asking, “Are we there, yet?” The feelings are very similar to that of a child hoping that they’ve endured the journey, reached the destination, and are ready to have some fun and stretch their legs a bit. Feelings of impatience (yes) mixed with expectation. As an adult and at this time, those feeling are definitely there, but there is more. As I put my trust and hope in the Lord as we wait, there is something that comes…peace.
Please continue to pray that our match will come soon! The Lord’s timing is always best and at the same time, this Mama is ready to look into the eyes of her little one. I’m not the only one…David and Michael often ask: “When can we go get her?” John mentions a few times a week: “I hope we can go get Naiya soon.” Many of you ask, “When can she come home?” I guess, we all can’t wait to get “there” and to hold her!
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.” Isaiah 40:31
