Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Philippians 1:6

6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Going to get her isn’t as easy as it sounds. It could be anywhere from a year and a half to a six year wait.  The traditional wait time for adopting a healthy babyfrom China
currently could be 4 to 6 years.  If your family is willing to fill out a medical checklist and adopt a child who may be medically needy (minor to severe), then the wait is considerably shorter- a year to two years.

We filled out the medical checklist and believe that just the right little baby girl will come into our home at just the right time.  In fact, even without knowing her or who she is, we love her already (and secretly we’re hoping for the one year plan- we just want her to get here).

Our application for adoption was sent to the Chinese adoption agency the day after Labor Day 2011. We are currently awaiting the Approval status.  From what we hear…It could be…TOMORROW!

We’ll keep you posted!

  1. Kelly and John,
We are wishing you a speedy adoption and hoping it will be a joyful experience. The two of you are wonderful parents to Michael and David and your little girl will be blessed to have the two of you as parents.
Thank you for also being such wonderful friends.
    Yvette and John

  2. oh Kelly, thanks so much for sharing your story. it is really touching and I believe God will use Naiya, the beautiful redemptive story she has to bring many more to himself. Isn’t our God amazing that in the midst of loss, he brings hope and light. I pray that God would be glorified as others see his great love as a father to the fatherless as you pursue our father’s heart for you. Praise God for all that he has been doing!
I look forward to meeting your daughter and being her “a yi” I can’t wait to hear when she’s going to come home with you! Blessings- Ena
